**UPDATE** The City of Saint Paul has announced that is will take the role of developer and with the help of Flannery Construction, will resume the project in 2010. The indoor market will remain, but the condos have been nixed. The project will move forward as 48 market-rate apartments.
Farmers Market Flats is a new construction project slated for occupancy in 2008/9 above a new indoor Farmers' Market. The flats will have a total of 48 units on five levels. The Flats range in size from 780 sq ft to 1250 sq ft and the prices are from $144,900's to $279,000. The Farmers' Market itself should have roughly 15,000 square feet of indoor space for a year round market.
Farmers Market Flats is being marketed as a Eco-Friendly development. The flats come standard with cork floors, energy star appliances, and District Energy for heating and cooling. Eco-friendly building features include an energy saving elevator, storm water runoff retention system for the roof, roof top deck with planters, plus much, much more! For the past several years, the project was held up in a land dispute, which has finally been resolved. The City of Saint Paul and the St Paul Farmers Market requested a new developer to build it sooner and found Sweeney Development, LLC.
